Where do you find the Camping Site Systragil?

The camping site is located at Hróarsstaðir farm in the valley of Fnjóskadalur in the county of Suður-Þingeyjarsýsla. The camping site in on the west side of the valley, facing the largest natural birch wood in Iceland, Vaglaskógur. When driving from  Akureyri , east across Víkurskarð, one enters the valley. The traveller takes the first sideroad to the left (road 833)
towards Systragil, some 5 kilomtres up the valley.  The total distance from Akureyri is 36 kilometres.  When coming from the east, along road 1, the traveller drives past lake Ljósavatn and then, immediately, after crossing the river Fnjóská, takes road 833 on the left.
The camping site Systragil is conveniently situated for excursions and sighseeing tours around the north of Iceland. The valley of Flateyjardalur, the parsonage Laufás (an old farmhouse,   built in the traditional style of the 18th century), Goðafoss (the Waterfall of the heathen Gods of old),  are all a short distance away. Lake Mývatn is about 60 kilometres away and the town of Húsavík some 90 kilometres away.
